KOK News Correspondent: Crusaders shocked

August 14, Cricket Greens, 1:29 AM

The Caminey Crusaders tasted defeat at the hands of Section A in their first round robin match majorly due to superlative batting performance by the Section A captain after the bowlers did a good job to restrict Caminey Crusaders to 57/9 at the end of their quota of 10 overs. It was the brilliant 10 ball innings which overshadowed all other performances of the day. Choosing to bat after winning the toss, Crusaders lost their captain in the very first over. This was followed by repetitive fall of wickets. However, a late resurgence by the lower middle order got the total to a defendable 57.

Crusaders started well by claiming early wickets as well as keeping the scoring low to 23 for the loss of 5 wickets in the first five overs. Just as the Camineys started sniffing victory, Pratyaksh played a match winning innings in which he demolished the opposition by carting as many as 3 sixes in a space of 8 balls.

Shortly after the match, the latest news post the Crusaders team meeting seems to point towards the same playing eleven being fielded for tomorrow's match. However, there are expected to be certain changes in the batting and bowling order. Crusaders also displayed disappointment at the low turnout of their supporters. Though the camp seems confident of reversing the scales tomorrow, much will depend on the fragile batting order which has got to perform to snatch away the initiative.
